What to Expect when Choosing Invisalign
Consultation with our Dentist
On your first visit to our office, our dentist will conduct a thorough dental exam. The purpose of the exam is to review the status of your current oral health and to resolve any possible dental problems prior to the treatment. Once an examination has been conducted, our dentist will take impressions of your teeth, which will be used to make your Invisalign aligners. These aligners are then given to you along with instructions on how to use and take care of them.
Invisalign aligners are Transparent
The reason many of our patients choose Invisalign is due to its transparency. The aligners consist of medical grade plastic components, allowing Invisalign to be nearly invisible.
Invisalign Aligners are Removable
Invisalign aligners are the only alternative to traditional braces which can be removed at your convenience. Although our dentist will recommend wearing them as much as possible throughout your treatment, it is nice to have the option of removing them for a special event or when you eat or drink.
A fundamental reason why patients opt for Invisalign is because it’s made of BPA-free plastic and does not have any plastics or other dangerous toxins that can be released into your mouth.
The duration of Invisalign depends on the severity of your misalignment, but the average time for this treatment is about 12-15 months.
Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners are easy to clean. Our dentist will suggest cleaning them every time you remove them and before reinserting them. To clean them, you can simply run them under warm water.
Once you have completed your Invisalign treatment, our dentist will suggest wearing a retainer. The purpose of the retainer is to prevent your teeth from shifting into the position they were in prior to the treatment.
